Phew! So that was 2009
I’ve begun to think of it as The Chrysalis Year - a time of intense transformation. So often, the butterfly is used as a symbol of change, but that’s the end product. The real change takes place inside that chrysalis. I do wonder what the caterpillar feels, when everything it was suddenly goes into a process of massive change. Does it know, somewhere deep down in its caterpillar psyche, what it’s going to become? I doubt it. But, somewhere in that caterpillar psyche, it just knows to go with the process. It’s unlikely to undergo existentialist angst about where it’s been and where it’s going. It just gets on with it.
Not so we humans. Oh no, we’ve got to make a right ding-dong over it. Denial, refusal, blindness - we’ve a clever set of tools to practise avoidance of change with. Which is a shame, since Pluto is still going to be rumbling through Capricorn this coming year, and that still means change - in how we earn and spend our money, how we do politics, how we run our society and its big institutions. So I wonder how we’re going to deal with 2010?
With relief, I can tell you that, numerologically, it’s a Universal Year 3, which brings with it joy, enthusiasm and creativity - all of which we sure can use, after the demands of 2009.
And I think this lighter energy is already on its way. I sense a change. It may seem surprising, but as I write this (early November 09), I’ve begun to tap into a sense of universal joy that seems to have been absent for a while, or, at least, has been struggling to make its presence felt through all the fear-ridden events of the last 18 months. And I find myself wondering whether this is the herald of better things to come. A waking up, an opening up to different ways of doing and being.
